I decided that I’ve got to take a bit of a hiatus from here.
It’s not because of my job–despite making less money than if I were to volunteer, my job is fairly decent right now. I would never allow my job the satisfaction of getting in the way of my blog.
I just can’t keep up with everything right now. It makes me so depressed because I want to give every post I read the time it deserves but I just can’t do it.
I’ve got a couple of real-life things I need to stop putting off.
Also, I have written about Internet addiction and I know it doesn’t sound like a real thing, but I am suffering from it and it’s getting in the way of my life.
I still will lurk around to keep tabs on anyone’s life events but I just can’t devote the same amount of time to reading or posting.
Notice that’s the first mention I made of posting. I am not doing the amount of writing I set out to do when I started. In my efforts to keep up with other people, I have completely neglected my own development to a point even I find unfair.
I also need to give some thought to what I’m doing on this blog and if it’s the right thing.
If you want to snub me when I start posting again, I understand.
If I have made a prior commitment to you, rest assured I intend to keep it. None of them are going out the window.
If you want to reach out about something, please use my contact form.
I’ll probably be back in the beginning of March.
God bless y’all.
May you have a well deserved rest to renew yourself.
God bless.

Many have rested. Few return. Except Dracul. He’s immortal, after all.

In the meantime, get some rest and handle the things in your life that matter the most.

I totally understand and it is healthy to take a break and find balance again. Or rather a new balance.

Take a break, and then get back to writing. After all, you gave two years to this blog.

And whad’ya call this plethora of recent posts?
You’ve no doubt noticed the dearth of contributions from many of us. The winter of our disconnect.
God bless, god damn, it’s all the same to me.
See ya when the robin’s come home to roost.

It’s not taking a break from posting (clearly) it’s that I simply cannot keep up with everything.

I identify with everything you said. Internet addiction is definitely a real thing and I struggle with this too. Take a much needed, much deserved break.

It’s a big test of time management and self-control. Doubt the break will last.

You can’t keep up with everything. Most of us aren’t worth it. Analogy – into early adulthood I could easily spend an hour at the magazine rack. Much to the chagrin of whoever sent me to the C store for beer or chips or cigarettes. I know YouTube addicts, game addicts, email addicts, comment stretchers… the point is there’s always been a time-wasting habit available. Just quit. Or decide like many do and buy an old school egg timer, set it for 15 minutes or your choice, when it goes off, quit. Next.

You’re right. I don’t want to quit, I just need to manage time better… The timer method is not to be underestimated.

That’s so very kind of you, Pragalbha. Except words like that make me stay, not take a break.

Okay, everyone missed the literary moment, which proves something suspected about the touchy feely group hug depressives flooding the Internet – Shoukd we all beware the Ides of March?

I am in the middle of my hiatus. I had to delete my blog to take a break. It called me back time and again. As long as you enjoy blogging your blogoteer buddies will be here with you. Taking breaks is a healthy, smart thing to do. So, feel no regrets. We will be here ready to smack that like button, unburden our opinions in the comment section, and look forward to hear from you.

I hope you didn’t lose all your posts when you did that. I do like when people unburden their opinions.

Hi Hetty, hope your weekend is going well. I abandoned some of the less worthy posts on my blog, but kept the stories and poems. I am planning to start a new blog where I hope to write about some of my interests in ancient history using historical fiction short stories. WP has changed so much since I abandoned ship, I haven’t quite figure out how to start a new site. When I find the right link, I’m sure they will accommodate my needs. I love to listen to other people’s stories and everybody has one. My problem is I like to share as well. Sometimes it’s best to just listen.

I feel the same way about sharing and listening. I don’t think your liking of sharing is a problem. Because if everyone only listened and didn’t share, what would they listen to?

I adore your wisdom, Hetty. You see the forest and the tree. You probably see the chipmunk eyeballing your lunch as well.

LOL! I knew you would share because it’s the right thing to do, plus chipmunks are cool little rascals.

I totally believe that we’re in the new stage of handling something we don’t totally understand. Just like how people used to smoke in hospitals, we might one day marvel at how blase we were with our internet usage.
I myself have felt weird about all the screen time I’ve had, especially on the phone, and I’m trying to find a way to reset, for a lack of a better term. I’ve been losing my focus and drive for day-to-day tasks, and I suspect it’s because entertainment is always just one tap away.
I hope you’re feeling better now, since it’s April. Baby steps! Always baby steps.

There’s definitely a powerful addictive mechanism involved in Internet and phone use. It’s frustrating that our brains betray us in our weaknesses.
